Outlook 2010 Password dialogue problem

Password dialogue keeps popping up for Outlook users, in the network, and logged in.

We’ve seen this before as well.

Try resetting the user’s password again, then have them restart their computer before trying to log in with the new credentials.

This usually takes care of it for me.

I find the problem occurs most when the credentials get changed mid session

ANSWER:  I found that it works to delete credentials (see below) but sometimes the problem exists when there are no Windows credentials in existence.  In that case, add credentials for the domain controller:  eg contoso.local

Seems to stop it happening.

You may want to try this. We experienced this some in our environment as well. We found some invalid credentials were saved or corrupt and had to clear them out. Here was the process that we used:

With Windows 7:
1. Go to Control Panel ==> User Accounts ==> Manage your credentials

2. Under Generic Credentials you will see your Outlook Saved Password. My belief is the password saved in this area is invalid. Remove the saved password and log on to Outlook.

3. When I looked at User Accounts, Credentials, she had 6-8 ID’s up under Generic Accounts all of them Outlook. I deleted all of them, which will force it to use the domain logon account. So far it appears to have worked.
